中央氣象局表示，今天上午5時到7時，康芮颱風外圍雲系和西南風造成中南部強降雨，雲林縣虎尾5至6時的時雨量達129毫米。

氣象局表示，今天時雨量其次為屏東縣大漢山122毫米、嘉義縣中坑120毫米，降雨的時間以上午5時到7時最多。

氣象局，時雨量破百是很大的雨，但台灣有多處氣象站歷史紀錄都曾達時雨量200毫米以上。

氣象局說，根據相關資料，台北市防洪設計可達時雨量78毫米，如果這場雨下在台北，也是會淹水；中南部都市的防洪設計較低，面臨傾盆大雨，就很容易淹水。

氣象局指出，部分人士質疑氣象局預報的準確度，氣象局不介入紛爭，仍堅守、秉持專業考量。中南部昨天就發布超大豪雨特報，陸上颱風警報發布時，也一併公布各地最高雨量預估值，目前看來都算準確，也隨時可以修正。
