白宮一名官員透過電郵聲明透露，美國總總歐巴馬今天將提名聯邦準備理事會（Fed）副主席葉連（Jane Yellen）掌聯準會。

據彭博報導，67歲的葉連將接下現任主席柏南奇（Ben S. Bernanke）的棒子。柏南奇的主席任期將於明年1月31日屆滿。

葉連不僅廣獲經濟家支持，參議院20名民主黨議員7月26日時還聯名致函歐巴馬力挺。

這名官員透露，白宮將於美國時間週三（9日）下午3時整的一場活動上宣布聯準會新掌門的提名，屆時柏南奇也將出席這場活動。

繼任柏南奇的熱門人選之一、前美國財政暨白宮經濟顧問薩默斯（Lawrence Summers）面對參議院銀行委員會民主黨議員的反彈聲浪高漲，宣布退出競逐聯準會主席大位後，葉連頓時成為呼聲最高的繼任人選。葉連於2010年來接掌聯準會副主席一職。

身為聯準會第二號人物，葉連對維持高度寬鬆的貨幣政策表達了明確的支持。在2012年的系列演說，葉倫概略敘述利率為何將維持接近零水準直到2015年稍晚，她在2011年的演說則為聯準會祭出的首二輪大規模資產收購措施進行辯解，表示此舉將有望創造300萬個工作機會。
